Have a Massive Computer Clearout (Intro)
Let me guess your situation: Your computer has too much files, you have a bunch of stuff installed that you have no clue what they are, and there's little precious computer space left. OK, OK, maybe it's not that bad, but your computer needs a clearout, right? Bonus: You get to delete your spam & junk email too! Here's a tip before you start: DON'T delete/uninstall files with an unknown purpose! No matter what! I once uninstalled the RealTek Audio Whatchamacallit, and I couldn't figure out why I can't use ear buds on my laptop until months later! Let that be a lesson to you, people!
Clear Out Your Email!
Do this if you have a habit of marking junk mail as read and not actually deleting them. Do it now! Delete your old contacts, unsubscribe to mailing lists you're not interested with, junk your junk mail, categorize and star/flag emails if necessary, and do whatever you need to do. If the situation's too dire, sign up for a new email address. Remember to tell everybody, or else there'll be screwups! (If you guys are wondering, that's what happened to my old email, teeshrox@yahoo.com.)Delete your unwanted internet accounts
Root through your email if necessary and delete your unwanted email accounts! This step is optional, but it's good if you do it. If you delete your unwanted accounts, this prevents confusion and makes your life easier.Uninstall unwanted/old programs
Remember the tip! Uninstall old computer games, unwanted programs, and others of the sort. This might take a while, if you have a big computer and/or if you have a lot of programs.Delete all empty folders on your computer
After uninstalling all that stuff, there's bound to be a bunch of empty folders. Again, remember the tip! Some empty folders are crucial, so don't delete all empty folders you see!Delete Your Unwanted Files
I'm talking about files like old images and such. This might be annoying, but remember the tip!Back up your computer
Last, but certainly not least, back up your computer! You can do this by burning your files into a disc or buying something like a Sansa Cruze, or by doing whatever your method is. Do it at least once in two months! Now hopefully you've cleaned up your computer by a lot!
